Treatment Approach
Ms. Dutton specializes in combining person-centered, psychodynamic psychotherapy with mindfulness, somatic therapy, psychedelic medicine, and Internal Family Systems. She believes that the relationship between therapist and client is an important source of healing. She respects and appreciates the variety of wisdom traditions in the world and believes they have preserved important teachings. She treats a variety of psychological concerns including mood disorders such as anxiety and depression and personality disorders. She has a special interest in end-of-life and existential issues.
Background
Anne Dutton is an integrative psychotherapist practicing in New Haven, CT. She is the
former Director of Mindfulness Education at the Yale Stress Center, current Clinical
Instructor of Social Work at Yale New Haven Hospital, and a core faculty member at the Copper Beech Institute in West Hartford, CT. She received full certification as a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) teacher through the University of Massachusetts Medical School. She also holds certificates in Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy and Research through the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) and in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy through the Western New England Psychoanalytic Institute (WNEPI). She worked as a therapist for Yale’s psilocybin- assisted therapy for depression study. She is also trained in Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and hypnotherapy. She has 500-hour certifications in several styles of yoga and is certified as a Yoga Therapist through the International Association of Yoga Therapists. A life-long practitioner of meditation, she studied Buddhist history and philosophy at Komazawa University in Tokyo, Japan and holds an M.A. in Buddhist Studies from Yale University. She holds a B.A. in Liberal Arts from St. John's College in Annapolis, MD.
